Datadog Employee Benefits: The Complete 2026 Guide

About this guide. Align Financial Solutions is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Datadog, Inc. Plan provisions described here are drawn from public filings and Datadog’s own published materials where a source exists, and were last reviewed on September 23, 2026. Employers change plan terms, and terms frequently differ by hire date, job level, location, and collective bargaining status, so what applies to you may differ from what is described here. Your own plan documents and your employer’s benefits team are the authority. Nothing here is individualized investment, tax, or legal advice.

Datadog is one of New York’s flagship tech employers: a young, high-earning workforce, meaningful equity in the pay package, and a benefits lineup that leans hard into family building. If you work in the New York Times Building or remotely for Datadog, the raw material for a strong financial plan is already in your package.

The catch is that Datadog’s package is shaped differently than the big-tech default, and the differences change where your next dollar should go. Here is a clear overview of Datadog employee benefits for 2026 and how to use each piece deliberately. Details change and can vary by role and location, so treat this as a map and confirm current numbers in your own benefits portal.

Compensation: Salary, RSUs, and the ESPP

Datadog compensation combines base salary with equity in the form of RSUs, granted at hire and typically refreshed over time, vesting on a time-based schedule over several years. An Employee Stock Purchase Plan lets you buy Datadog shares at a discount on top of your grants.

Because both the grants and the ESPP put more Datadog stock in your hands every year, the planning question is concentration. Decide in advance, in writing, how much of your net worth you are willing to keep in your employer’s stock, and sell down to that rule on a schedule. That is the same discipline I walk through for RSU vests and windfalls, and it matters more at a company whose stock moves fast in both directions.

Retirement and Financial Benefits

BenefitHow it works
401(k) matchDatadog offers a 401(k) with a match. The formula is not disclosed in any public filing, and match formulas do not appear on Form 5500, so confirm yours in your plan documents rather than relying on figures quoted online.
ESPPPurchase shares at a 15% discount through payroll deductions. The plan document sets the price at 85% of fair market value on the offering date or the purchase date, whichever is lower.
HSAHigh-deductible plan options are available. Datadog does not publish an employer HSA contribution, so check your benefits portal.
RSUsTime-based vesting; each vest is taxable income at the share price that day
These are Datadog plan provisions rather than IRS limits, and they can change from year to year. Confirm the current terms in your plan documents before relying on them.

The planning implication holds whatever the formula turns out to be. At Datadog, the match is unlikely to be your savings plan. Find your actual match and cap in your plan documents, capture it in full, then set your own contribution rate against the 2026 employee limit of $24,500, and let equity proceeds fund a taxable account on a schedule. Your wealth here is built by your savings rate and your concentration discipline, not by what the employer puts into the 401(k).

If your match is modest, and at a company this size it often is, the plan does very little of the work for you and most of your retirement savings has to come from somewhere else. Add RSUs and the ESPP and the question becomes which account to fill first. If you would rather not work that out alone, a 15-minute Align Call is a good place to start.

Parental Leave and Family Building

This is where Datadog’s package genuinely stands out, especially for the life stage of much of its workforce.

BenefitAmount
Paid parental leaveDatadog describes it as fully paid and gender-neutral, available after three months of tenure. It does not publish the number of weeks.
Family-forming supportDatadog lists adoption, fertility, fertility preservation and surrogacy benefits. No reimbursement amounts are published.
Gender-affirming careDatadog publishes a Gender Affirming Care Wallet covering procedures and therapy services, without a stated amount.

If family building is anywhere on your horizon, these dollars change the math meaningfully, and they reset annually. Before a leave, also plan the financial mechanics: how RSU vesting lands during your months out, and whether to shift 401(k) contributions earlier in the year.

Health, Wellness, and Everyday Benefits

Datadog offers three medical plan options with dental and vision, HSA contributions on eligible plans, and up to 10 free sessions per year with Spring Health mental health practitioners. A fitness reimbursement is offered, though the percentage and monthly cap are not published, and the everyday extras include commuter benefits, a home office stipend, catered lunches, professional development stipends, and even pet insurance with a $250 adoption subsidy. Time off is discretionary (unlimited PTO), which in practice rewards the people who actually schedule it.

How to Approach Your Datadog Elections

  1. Capture the full 401(k) match, then keep going. Whatever your match is, it is step one, not the finish line. Set your rate against the $24,500 limit, not the match.
  2. Write a concentration rule before the next vest. Grants plus ESPP purchases compound your Datadog exposure every quarter unless you sell on a schedule.
  3. Check your equity withholding. RSU income is often withheld at a flat rate below a high earner’s bracket; set cash aside from each vest for April.
  4. Claim the family-building and wellness dollars. The fertility, childcare, and fitness benefits reset each year and do not roll over.
  5. Update beneficiaries. 401(k), life insurance, and your brokerage account, especially after any family change.

Datadog Employee Benefits FAQ (2026)

What is Datadog’s 401(k) match?

Datadog offers a 401(k) with a company match. The formula is not disclosed in any public filing, and match formulas do not appear on Form 5500 either, so there is no way to verify from public records what figures circulate online. Get yours from your plan documents. Whatever it turns out to be, at a company this size your own contribution rate is usually the main engine of your retirement savings.

Does Datadog have an ESPP?

Yes. Datadog’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan lets you buy company shares at a discount through payroll deductions, alongside the RSUs most employees receive. Because both add to your Datadog concentration, pair ESPP participation with a written sell schedule.

What is Datadog’s parental leave policy?

All new parents receive up to 12 weeks of paid bonding leave with benefits, and birthing parents receive an additional 4 paid weeks. Confirm current policy and how RSU vesting is treated during leave before planning dates.

Does Datadog offer fertility benefits?

Yes. Datadog lists adoption, fertility, fertility preservation and surrogacy benefits, and a Gender Affirming Care Wallet. It does not publish reimbursement amounts for any of them, and the dollar figures that circulate on salary and benefits sites do not trace back to Datadog. Get the current amounts and any lifetime maximums from your benefits portal before budgeting around them.

How much PTO do Datadog employees get?

Datadog uses a discretionary (unlimited) PTO policy, plus paid sick days and bereavement leave. Unlimited policies reward planning: put your time off on the calendar deliberately, because nothing accrues and nothing is paid out if unused.

Making the Most of Your Datadog Benefits

Datadog pays well, grants real equity, and funds family building better than almost anyone. What the package does not do is save for you: the modest match means your savings rate, your concentration rule, and your tax withholding are decisions you own.

At Align Financial Solutions, we help women leaders in tech coordinate exactly these decisions: equity sales and taxes, savings architecture beyond the match, and benefit elections that fit the life you are actually living. If you would like a second set of eyes on your package, book a free 15-minute Align Call. Whether we work together or not, you’ll walk away with clarity on your best next step.
